Green Tourism Business Scheme Gold Award

Bedknobs B&B Strikes Gold

In January 2007, Bedknobs was awarded Gold under the prestigious Green Tourism Business Scheme, in recognition for its commitment to the environment. As at that date, only one other accommodation provider in North Cornwall had achieved this accolade since the scheme was rolled out in Cornwall in December 2005.

Green Tourism Business Scheme

The Green Tourism Business Scheme is reputedly the largest and most successful environmental accreditation body operating within tourism in Europe and green tourism is the term used to describe best environmental practice by businesses, such as ourselves, that are committed to reducing their impact on the environment.

Joining the Scheme involves being stringently assessed by IEMA-registered Environmental Auditors with considerable experience in the tourism industry. Businesses are graded against 120 measures of best practice that reflect a balance of environmental, economic and social issues. These include good management and communication, efficient lighting and heating, nature conservation, use of local crafts and local produce, renewable energy and community support and involvement.

Green Tourism at Bedknobs

Here at Bedknobs we have always had the greatest respect for our environment, our local community and the wider world - caring for them all is our way of giving something back. Winning awards for doing what we're passionate about, is a great way of publicising the benefits of green tourism to other businesses and we're delighted to join the other 7 Gold Award Winners in Cornwall.
