We all produce carbon dioxide emissions through the way we live - heating, lighting and travel - including our holidays.
Here at Bedknobs, we strive to reduce our impact upon the environment without compromising the quality of our accommodation or service. Indeed, we believe both are better in many ways as a result of our attempt to live a more sustainable life.
Trees are nature's way of absorbing the emissions that we produce as part of the Carbon cycle. Each tree over its lifetime can absorb almost 1 tonne of the greenhouse gas Carbon Dioxide (CO2). In this connection, we are delighted to offer our guests the opportunity to take part in an environmental scheme run by co2balance ltd.
In its Mission Statement, 'co2balance' offers to provide a simple, practical and cost-effective way for individuals and businesses to reduce their carbon footprint. In our case - and the case of our Visitors - we offer you on behalf of co2balance.com, the opportunity to CarbonZero your visit to Cornwall (return journey + pottering around whilst here) by planting a tree in managed woodland. This involves very little cost - but big benefits to the environment.
Using the carbon calculator on the 'co2balance' website, we estimate that a normal return journey in an average-size car from London, will be covered by planting just half a tree (£4) though we do invite the owners of the gas-guzzling variety and those that live further afield, to opt for a whole tree!
This environmental initiative is purely voluntary - and absolutely no physical exertion whatsoever is required! We simply ask our guests, if interested, to a tick in the box on the Registration Form. It's as simple as that.
