St Petrocs Church

15th Century barrel-vaulted Church dedicated to St. Petroc - the largest Church in Cornwall

St Petroc's Church is the heart of Bodmin, and is the largest and one of the oldest Parish Churches in Cornwall. The present Church was built between 1469 and 1472 though earlier churches existed on the same site back to 500-530AD when St Guron and St Petroc founded the first Christian community at Bodmin ("Bod Meneghi" in Cornish meaning "dwelling of monks").

The Church has played a prominent role in Bodmin Town's colourful history and is well documented. In addition to regular services, St Petroc's Church is regularly open to the public during the summer.
