Cornwall Tourism Awards 2005 - Sustainable Tourism Initiative - Silver Award

Bedknobs entered the Sustainability section of the Cornwall Tourism Awards in 2005 and gained a Silver award.

Which - The Good Bed and Breakfast Guide 2005

Bedknobs achieved an entry in the WBBG for first time in Cornwall. We are especially pleased as you can only gain entry via personal reccommendation from guests who have written to Which.

Walkers Welcome

Bedknobs was one of the first accommodation providers to be accredited with Walkers Welcome and Cyclists Welcome back in November 2004.

We offer safe storage for bicycles, drying facilities, packed lunches and early breakfast if required. We've compiled a Walking and Cycling Information Manual that contains all the cycle routes in Cornwall and also many interesting walks as well as directions, photographs and maps.

We offer discretionary discounts to our Guests who walk or cycle to The Eden Project and/or leave the car at home and use public transport for the day - purely optional!

We actively support and promote all forms of sustainable transport that avoid or reduce CO2 emissions.

Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards 2004 - Best Small Business and Overall Winner

On 17th November 2004, Bedknobs was declared Best Small Business and Overall Winner of the prestigious Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Sustainability Awards. The Awards were presented at a ceremony in Truro, by Charles Secrett, former Director of Friends of the Earth.

The awards consisted of two commemorative jugs designed and crafted by the renowned Cornish potter Paul Jackson from Helland Bridge.

We were encouraged to enter these Awards by CoaST (the Cornwall Sustainable tourism Project) and after getting over the initial shock of winning, we feel proud that our small achievements have been recognised. This has spurred us on to go-public with 'what we do' and 'how we do it' so that others can see how easy it is to lead a more sustainable life.

Cornwall Tourism Awards 2004 - Guest House of the Year - Highly Commended

In November 2004, Bedknobs equalled its 2003 success with a further Award of Highly Commended in the Best B&B/Guest House category of The Cornwall Tourism Awards. With the judging criteria for 2004 being based on the "wow" factor we were absolutely delighted with the result.

4 Star Guest Accommodation

VisitBritain is the official body responsible for accrediting Bedknobs with 4 Stars **** for its accommodation. A 4 Star **** grading suggests “that you should expect an Excellent Standard of accommodation and service throughout”.

Silver Award

A Silver Award is awarded in addition to the Star Grading to Hotels and Guest Accommodation that “reflect a high level of quality, comfort and cleanliness in bedrooms and bathrooms with very good levels of customer care”.
